Consider the commercial objectives of the client and apply them in a legal context for Ashurst’s Fund, Finance and Restructuring and M&A teams.

This job simulation will give you an insight into the type of work done by Ashurst’s Fund, Finance and Restructuring and M&A teams.  As a trainee at Ashurst you will have the opportunity to interact with clients and will learn to engage with their commercial objectives.  These exercises will simulate the range of tasks that you will be responsible for as a trainee working as part of a deal team and will develop both your technical abilities and commercial awareness.

In particular, you will be help with the signing and completion process of a proposed loan to a company in the restaurant industry looking to expand into the UK. You will also gain an understanding of the negotiation process behind key transaction documents and will be asked to concisely convey the outcome of the discussions to your team, as great communication is a valued skill for Ashurst lawyers. In both cases you will need to consider the commercial objectives of the client and apply them in a legal context to help the client achieve their business goals.
