Managing Self-Doubt and Imposter Feelings

Ashurst is committed to lifelong learning and personal development in supporting our people to have extraordinary careers. Likewise, we want our candidates, whatever your background, to have the best possible chance of success in their search for the right career. To support these first steps into the world of work, we have created a course on how to manage self-doubt and imposter feelings, so that you are set up for success when applying for opportunities at Ashurst or elsewhere.

In this programme, the first three tasks will walk you through the phenomenon of self-doubt and imposter feelings, and its connection to how we view ourselves. By developing this awareness, you’ll be able to better manage these feelings.

The next task asks you to define what is special about you in the context of your newfound understanding of imposter feelings and self-doubt. Finally, in your last task, you’ll be asked to practice communicating your uniqueness to an employer by explaining why you’re extraordinary and why that employer should hire you.

For some of you, describing your strengths may feel uncomfortable and even awkward but please remember that when speaking about something that is true, you should not feel any embarrassment. In an interview, only you can describe the special characteristics you possess, and practising this will be critical to ensure you are relaxed and ready to tackle this for real-life situations.

Good luck with this course, we hope that you enjoy this programme and find it useful in action.

This program is self-paced. It takes approximately 3-4 hours to complete.
