The state contributes to the wages of work study employees, so participating employers benefit from educated, motivated workers at a lower cost.
How to participate as an employer:
| STEP ONE | Determine the kind of work that needs to be performed and the necessary qualifications. |
| STEP TWO | Complete an Employer Contract and Profile via Washington Student Achievement Council (WSAC) portal. |
| STEP THREE | Wait for WSAC approval of the contract and profile (an email notification is sent as confirmation). |
| STEP FOUR | Create job descriptions in the WSAC portal and Handshake. Job descriptions are approved by WSAC and notifies SMU. Handshake posts the job for students to find and apply to. |
| STEP FIVE | Interview student applicants who apply through Handshake. If you have Handshake questions, please contact careers@stmartin.edu. |
| STEP SIX | You will onboard your hired student employee per your human resources department/policies. Students work with the Office of Financial Aid to get Hiring Authorization Form to you. Questions? Contact finaid@stmartin.edu. |
| STEP SEVEN | Submit timesheets for reimbursement (form found at https://wsac.wa.gov/employers) each pay period and a copy of pay stub matching the timesheet to secure drop box. Once completed fully, the Office of Financial Aid will submit to WSAC for reimbursement. |
