Production Manager & Design — SHASHI (NYC)
In office 5 days a week on Upper East Side.
SHASHI is a jewelry brand sold at Revolve, Shopbop, Bergdorf Goodman, Nordstrom, and other major retailers. We’re looking for an in-house Production Manager & Design to run domestic (USA-only) production for the brand.
What you’ll be doing
- Work closely with the owner on deciding which styles can be produced in New York — figuring out if local production is possible and profitable, and which vendors to use. This is always a conversation, not a solo decision — how a style gets produced gets talked through, every time
- Navigate Manhattan’s Midtown, Diamond District, and Fashion District regularly to manage vendor relationships (platers, enamelers, assemblers, gemstone sourcing, etc.)
- Take in-house production orders from the team and manage them against due dates — and when a date can’t be hit, flag it to the owner early and talk through why.
- Stay on top of vendors — follow up regularly so production stays on timeline and comes out looking the way it should
- Keep the owner in the loop on problems as they come up and on what needs to be ordered — this isn’t a role where things get handled quietly on the side
- Assemble samples yourself and problem-solve when things go sideways (they will) — but within reason: this is about creative solutions inside practical limits, not open-ended experimentation
- Document everything — every style produced and designed needs to be logged in Apparel Magic. No exceptions
- Keep an eye on what’s trending and what’s actually going to sell — this isn’t just logistics, it’s part of the design conversation
- Work in Apparel Magic daily (or be ready to learn it — training provided)
- Understand what it means to produce for retailers like Revolve, Shopbop, Bergdorf, and Nordstrom, and the standards that come with that
- Keep production costs in line with fashion jewelry, not fine jewelry — this is not a role for someone used to fine jewelry margins or processes
Where the work happens
In-house at our office, plus various production partners across Manhattan and Rhode Island. USA production only — this role doesn’t involve overseas vendors or sourcing.
What we need from you
- Hard-working and reliable — shows up every day, no exceptions
- Strong problem-solving instincts and a creative mindset — more important than any jewelry background, but solutions need to work within real constraints (cost, timeline, vendor capability), not just be creative for creativity’s sake
- Comfortable taking direction and following projects through to completion
- Curious and resourceful — able to find new local production solutions and vendors on your own
- Disciplined about documentation — comfortable logging everything in Apparel Magic as part of the job, not an afterthought
- A genuine eye for fashion and what’s current
- Good work ethic, gets things done
What you don’t need
- Jewelry industry experience
- Apparel Magic experience (willingness to learn is enough)
- Any background in overseas production — not part of this role
- Fine jewelry experience — this is fashion jewelry, and the production costs and processes reflect that
